At Royalair our passion is restoring the German Shepherd to what it was meant to be. We focus on old-fashioned straight-back Shepherds known for sound structure, strong bone, clear minds, and a calm, family‑oriented yet protective temperament. While our dogs are often larger than today’s standards, size is always secondary to longevity, intelligence, athletic ability, and health. Through extensive genetic testing and careful selection, our mission is simple: to produce Shepherds with superior brain power, stability, and the ability to excel—true working dogs with lasting vitality.
Meet the Founder
The Royalair legacy was started by Robin Krumm in 1986. By forming close bonds with her dogs and ensuring health above all else, one of the most renowned kennels in the US came to be. In 2026, Robin retired, allowing her legacy to live on under the management of another German Shepherd lover who cared about the health and well-being of the breed. Her same bloodlines and passion will continue with the focus on health, temperament, and composition of everything the old-fashioned german shepherd is meant to be.
Meet the New Owner
After several years of working alongside Robin and incorporating Royalair genetics into the foundation of her own program, Maverick German Shepherds, Dara Maverick has assumed management of Royalair German Shepherds. With roots in her own kennel dating back to 2018, Dara has remained committed to the same core principles that defined Robin’s breeding program: health, temperament, and size.
Dara is also known for her appreciation of distinctive beauty within the breed, offering a wider range of unique coat colors—such as blue and liver—alongside traditional German Shepherd colors.
Her passion for the breed began at home. Her first family dog was an exceptional female German Shepherd—gentle with babies, capable of helping wrangle cattle, and a truly dependable, all-around companion. The family’s second German Shepherd was trained in protection, devotedly watching over the children and following them everywhere. Witnessing firsthand the intelligence, versatility, loyalty, and presence of these remarkable dogs inspired Dara to share that experience with families across America.
Today, as she leads Royalair German Shepherds, Dara continues forward with that same mission: to thoughtfully breed exceptional German Shepherds that enrich the lives of the families who bring them home.
